We're gonna win the European cup! 7-0 against a world class team. Money in the bank I tell thee.

English teams top of all their groups at the halfway stage.

I thought Spurs played well last night - they troubled Real although a draw was a fair result.

Of the 5 I think there's a fair chance that United, Chelsea, City and Spurs can reach the quarters, with maybe City or United going further. If Liverpool finish top of their group and get a decent draw then they might do, as they were helped by Spartak beating Sevilla.

Not really getting in to the Everton team to leading the line with messi and Suarez, no bother to deulofeu.

Realising that finishing second was as good as it was going to get, to fancying a move to a proper big club. No bother to Suarez.

Hats off to Tottenham. They utterly bossed Real and made them look shambolic at times.

But it could be City's year...

In the context of this season yes, but remember Real hadn't lost in nearly a decade in the group stage and are the holders. Napoli may turn out to be a great team but we don't know yet if they will last the season. Real are proven as the best side in Europe over the last 5 years and have the players to suggest this is just a blip.

And City have been doing the Champions League thing for a few years now; Spurs are much less experienced.

City have spent, and have available to spend, a lot more than Spurs as well. Sure, Spurs have flashed a bit of cash but they've also been really good at bringing British youngsters through. Harry Winks started last night, and just two or three years ago Delle Alli was playing in League One, Kieran Tripper was in the Championship, and Harry Kane was the next Carlton Cole.

Likely QFs

Liverpool
Real Madrid
Barcelona
Man City
Bayern
Man Utd
Spurs
Roma

A very intriguing list of teams. I imagine no-one will want to play City or Barca. But Real seem to have their tails up in the CL too.

Spurs suffer three minutes of second half madness and get dumped out. At this level... well, you just can't do that, I'm afraid.

Yeah Juventus played well for about 15 minutes of the entire tie but it was more than enough. A harsh lesson for Spurs.

Feel a bit sorry for Chelsea. They've had a real go at Barcelona but......Messi.
