It wasn’t a Premier League game but....

Excellent refereeing tonight in Chelsea v Norwich. Hopefully that is the start of some changes in the game. Personally I long for the day when the excuse “there was Contact” is no longer considered a valid excuse for falling over and claiming (often successfully) a free kick / penalty. A hand touch on the shoulder (and it was no more than that) is definitely not enough to send a 6’3” fit bloke to the ground. All football pros are trained to wait for it and cheat the game. It’s a blight and I hope in years to come we will look back on these days and ask how the hell did we let it come to this and allow cheaters to win.

And as for the cnuts who dangle a leg out to deliberately make contact with a defender when normal passage would mean there is none - show them up and kick it out.

Haven't seen all the decisions yet, but the Willian one was definitely a penalty. How they could look at that on a video and not give it I don't know.

A frustrating draw. I think any side that is 10th or lower is in a dogfight for relegation until May. And it's not looking good for Watford either.

Relegation is going to be fascinating this season. I think Swansea are doomed, but the other two could come from seven or eight sides.

Well that was bit of a kick in the balls. Put 11 men behind the ball for most of the game and we're fucked. Fire out 11 men worth over 500 million and make them play and we'll beat you, barely. Fuck me.

I think Swansea only had one chance, and they scored. I knew we were doomed from then on. It's a game where Coutinho abilities were really missed.

Forget him, he's gone and knowing Liverpool he won't be replaced until the summer. Someone in the current squad needs to step up to that position.

Will Klop be in charge next season?

Given the erractic displays and cup exits.

Thoughts?

He will because I doubt Liverpool could get another manager of his calibre. He's flawed but he's also the reason the likes of VVD signed for them.

It's a couple of bad results. They've only lost three in the league all season and are in the last 16 of the Champions league with a tie they'll fancy winning. Yes there is inconsistency there but outside of Man City you could say the same for all the top teams.

They need some more signings but they are on the right track I feel.

I tried to change my password to "Liverpool's Defence" but the site said it was too weak.

Any advice?

:)

It doesn't mean they aren't this time.

They have the 2nd best attack in the country and if they can sort out some other areas they have the potential to challenge.

Of course that final jump is a significant one but I think there is cause for optimism for Liverpool fans.

(it'll go tits up within 6 months)

It'll be interesting to see if van Dijk can bring the defensive leadership they need but I think they lack a controlling midfielder. Someone really dominant in the middle of the park - whether it be a runner/tackler like Kante, a ball-player like Silva, or an all-action type like Pogba. Who do Liverpool have? Emre Can and Jordan Henderson?

A real top-level striker wouldn't hurt them though I guess having Salah, Firmino and Mane with Sturridge as an option off the bench (though he might be on his way?) is fine for them.

Not seen him play but he's apparently a bit scattershot. Lots of talent but terrible discipline and a tendency to dribble around too much in tight areas and take speculative shots too often. Young enough to work these things out of his game though.

The most notable things he's done this season were get sent off three times in 39 days and get fined a six-figure sum for using a fake driving licence.
