thanks andy!
i'd like to see someone like david gill at the helm.
just someone honest.
football matters a hell of a lot to me. i don't want my love for the game tarnished by the likes of blatter and platini. i consider myself pure and drug free.
my dream candidate would be Sir Trevor Brooking.

He's been on the FIFA Executive for years.
But I agree with you. He's not Blatter, but he is, at best, tainted.
I guess he will have to do while they bring in fresh blood, but he isn't the solution.
But he was some player.
He exemplifies everything that's bad about modern football administration. Quite apart from major corruption issues, his stance on innumerable issues - notably goal-line technology but also a tonne of other areas to modernise the game - has been conservative, buffoon-like, and an utter mess, leaving football 25 years behind most other sports. He comes across as an utter idiot in every interview I've seen him in - at least Blatter came across as knowledgeable. I don't think Platini knows his left from his right arm, which is very dangerous.

i find it quite upsetting that dyke and the fa have come out in support of him despite him not even having a manifesto in place.

He did push through FFP, despite opposition from the game's most powerful clubs. You have to give him some credit for that.

Sure - 20 years too late, and a completely watered down measure, and one which he called for to be dismantled last month - but sure, I'll give him some credit for that.

Re: napoleon to run for presidency
So it appears FIFA paid Platini 1.35 mill euros for 'consultancy' work for Blatter, between 1999-2002.
Which he actually got paid 9 years later. Three months after Qatar won the vote for the 2022 World Cup.
Nothing fishy at all there, of course, not at all.

And it also appears that there is no paper trail for the payment :

That's all above board then.......

Re: napoleon to run for presidency
Apparently the £1.35mill payment to Platini was a "Gentleman's Agreement".....
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34553509
Oh right, that explains why there's no audit trail and - as far as anyone can see- wasn't authorised by any body within FIFA, besides Blatter himself.
And some cynics amongst you may think it was a backhand sweetener for Platini securing Qatar the World Cup, especially as the payment was made nine years after the work was done, but only three months after Qatar were granted World Cup 2022.
Shame on you.

The Germans now provide a sweet smokescreen after Der Spiegel further exposed the 2006 Euro-bid....

So it may be a 'conflict of interest' after all...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34587081
Not declared in 2002 FIFA accounts - which, by itself, may be 'false accounting'.
Yet these two hang on without a hint of remorse and completely bereft of shame. Incredible.
