I was just turning to the Warriors pre-game when I saw what happened. First quarter of first game, that's too bad. I've followed him ever since he was at Butler with Stevens. The way he shot in college, I thought he'd be good. I think Tatum will fill in nicely on offense. D, we shall see.

Kerr was a mad scientist with lineups last night during Houston game. There were some really funky ones out there so it didn't suprise me too much at the loss. And they almost pulled it out. I thought KD had pulled it out because the buzzer was a little slow but timer showed he didn't get it off. Green went out with a knee sprain, he looked like it got hyper-extended, kinda like KD last season, so we shall see.

On this day, Nate Thurmond had 22 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists and 12 block for the Bulls. I remember being pissed off that the Warriors had traded him because I wasn't crazy about Clifford Ray, the player they got in return.

Embid and Simmons should be interesting. In fine 76er style, Fulks will probably sit the first game with an injured shoulder.

First win of the season in the Garden.
Might be a good year after all.

Fulks didn't sit, and Embid and Simmons played well, but they're still the 76ers. Meaning, they lost.

I bought NBA League Pass last night and watched some of the Portland/Phoenix game. No CJ McCollum and the Blazers were winning by 40 in the fourth quarter when I tuned to it.

And San Antonio's second year point guard who they got from U-Dub (Univ of Washington), DeJounte Murray, is a baller.

And Detroit build a new arena and less than 10k people turn up on opening night.
That's what happens when your franchise has been mediocre for so long.
I would imagine something similar would have happenned to Milwakee hadn't they lucked out with Giannis.

See, that I don't buy.

The Warriors were terrible for years and they still drew because of a loyal fanbase. The new Detroit arena is downtown and not in the suburbs where the money is. If they price tickets too high and the arena isn't close to the prime customer base, it is doomed.

What saved the Warriors is their arena is right next to a major freeway and BART, regional mass transit, even though it's a terrible section of Oakland.

If the connection to the Arena is bad (and it must be really bad) it might keep people away.
But opening night on a new arena and not sold out? There's more to location and commuting issues at play I'm sure.

Good points. I wonder if they had problems selling out in the burbs. I don't know Detroit's downtown very well, but I wouldn't think it's ripe for a renaissance. Especially at $100 a seat. I could be wrong.

I don't know.
I've been reading it's actually an up and coming place lately. Maybe not an $100 a seat up and coming but still, this is an event.
Their marketing department must really suck if they can't get the city get behind the team for the opening. I don't think a band could have much trouble filling it at the same price.

I think you're right. Eminem christened the place.
