Is Raheem Sterling actually any good?

Lallana is looking like England's best player. Again. Good goal, and while England barely deserve a three-goal lead, it's encouraging that the team has been clinical when creating chances. Three good opportunities, three goals.

They look fine in and around the Scots area. The difference between the teams has been the precision and professionalism of England's attackers. It's at the back they hqve problems.

Re: BCB England football team thread
How did Sterling miss that? He's got talent, but is very inconsistent. England have improved in the second half, for sure, and are finally playing with confidence. They're a work in progress, for sure. But, despite my recent despondency over their latest performances, it could be that something is coming together.
Still don't know why Scotland didn't bring on Burke when they still had a chance of getting a result. He's got the raw talent to expose hesitant defences, and he would have made England pay, I'm sure.

Forget the miss, Sterling was terrible all through. Just can't make the right decision, just runs with the ball then loses it. Terrible performance from him.
Did someone suggest Rooney was decent tonight? Dear oh dear.

Rooney was awful. The Spurs wing-backs were really good though going forward. They took control of the game in the second half, so it's not all bad. As soon as Rooney gets dropped, England will improve. At the moment, his lack of mobility drags the side down.

Indeed. That's what we've been saying for 2 years or more.
It is baffling beyond words that people, paid millions of £s a year are unable to see what is obvious to so many.
Weird really and almost suggestive of some kind of corruption. (Where's Jeemo?)

I'm here. Better team won. You aren't that good really. When a team of Scotlands calibre can pressure you and create decent chances. God help you when you play Iceland.....

Why the hell did Scotland play in PINK?
I mean, what sort of utter bell made that decision?

It's no wonder they didn't want to run pictures of it

We had to change because according to FIFA the white sleeves on our first kit would clash with the white on Englands top.

FWIW Southgate should be England manager, if only because any more changes will just be even more tedious.

That really was one of the worst shirts I've ever seen. A horrid asymmetrical design with a really garish shade of pink. What were Adidas thinking?

Although I don't think we're approaching the early 90s in terms of garish shirt design, the tendency to go for either pink or those dreadful 3rd side fluoroescent green and grey ones worn by both Arsenal and Liverpool is increasing. It's worrying.

Re: BCB England football team thread
I should add that Scotland has worn (roseberry) pink before of course and the wearing of pink shirts goes back decades so it's not like there is no precedent here.
It is a bit much however

Re: BCB England football team thread
Yeah, but the previous one I remember (an Umbro top from, I think, the late 90s) was at least a subtle and pleasing shade of salmon pink. That's a long way from the dayglo nightmare displayed on Saturday.
