Great to see so many Bolts fans (last week I counted about 5 Chargers jerseys in total). Met some lovely people over from Tennessee. The game itself was pretty average. Marietta looked impressive in the short passing game/scrambling. Both D's stood up to the plate. If Rivers goes down we are truly shagged.

I'd agree with that - the two D's stood up well...besides the 75 & 55 yd TD's thrown by Rivers. The Titans struggled with the run besides when Mariotta scrambled. But the pick he threw just before half time was always likely to come back to haunt them, and so it did.

They're both going to be in playoff contention but they're not likely to progress much beyond the first round if they do make it.

Marietta is in Georgia, Mariota plays QB.

I’d probably rather have Marietta at QB

At the start of last season, it was all about Mariota and Jameis Winston, as who was going to be the next best young quarterback.

Times change quick.

Colts vs. Raiders this week. I cannot think of a football game I'll be trying very hard to miss watching.

Niners vs. Cardinals is not much better.

The game to watch in my area is Stanford/Washington State.

Who would have thought that the Eagles v Jags game would be contested by two 3-4 teams?

Not either of them. The Jags picked up Carlos Hyde from the Browns this week to help the workload with TJ Yeldon. Fournette's hamstring injury might be worse than expected.

Word is they aren't very happy with Fournette in Jacksonville - they think he's dragging this injury out. He may still get swiped in a trade.

They aren't happy with Bortles either. . . again. I know who I'd keep between those two.

Bortles rushed for 43 yards yesterday - the rest of the team 27.... maybe they ought to solve two problems in one by getting another QB and playing Bortles as RB.

A close game yesterday but both teams are really really struggling. The Eagles might just use this as a springboard for a late season surge, but I think Jacksonville are done for the season. Offensively they are a mess.

A sleeper is Carolina - the past two weeks Cam Newton has returned to his brilliant best of three seasons ago and they have a few more options on offence than then. They're in a tough division but may be one to keep an eye on.

McCaffrey has been playing well too. Takes some of the load off Cam and Olsen.

Yesterday, I was driving in my car listening to the Niners on the radio and they snatched defeat from the hands of victory.

I called my brother and cousin who were watching it together to tell them and kinda ruined it for him because TV is delayed over radio by a couple minutes.

And what was Ty Montgomery thinking taking the kick off out of the endzone, leading to a fumble?

He went to Stanford. He should be smarter.

Maybe because Rodgers went to Cal, Stanford's arch rival, Montgomery didn't want to give Rodger the satisfaction.

If I were the Niners, I'd be giving the Packers a call this morning anyway.

My boss's son grew up playing on sports teams with Zack Ertz. He's always amazed that such a goofy kid turned into this do everything all-pro tight end.

Early in his high school career, Brent Jones, the ex-Niner tight end, who lives in the same neighborhood, noticed something in Ertz and helped guide him to getting in shape, getting better, and getting him into Stanford. The rest is history.

Especially having been told to take a knee before he went out to receive.
He had apparently had a run in the series before when he was sat down, and didn't take kindly to it. Not bright as at all to try and get your own back.

He might just get traded.

I've played lots of team sports and more than any, football is the ultimate in cooperation. More than baseball, more than basketball, more than water polo, which also require a lot.

Doing your job for the good of the team is highly valued. The play may not come to you, but you block your man so another can potentially score. In basketball, you set picks, in baseball you bunt, hit a sacrifice fly ball, or back up guys in the field, but It's 11 guys vs. 9, 7, or 5, so more is required of every cog.

He will be traded, if they can, and somebody wants him.

So after week 8... do we see any potential, realistic Superbowl winners besides the Rams & Saints in the NFC and Chiefs & Patriots from the AFC?

I don't know if you saw this because you guys don't pay attention to college football, but Joey's brother, Nick, also a very good lineman, shut it down at Ohio State because of a minor injury because he wants to be good for the draft.
