So the Colts fire Chuck Pagano minutes after his side struggles to a win over Houston. Even though it was in the air for a while, it seems a bit like a dick move after all he has gone through.

Del Rio and the Raiders seems weirder since he signed a 4 year deal earlier in the season but clearly that was a team going backwards in a hurry.

You reckon Carroll is safe at the Seahawks?

The Colts and Seahawks are both finding out that you cannot win in this league without an O Line to protect your Quarterback. Of course, when your QB doesn't play all season (in Indy) then it's kind of a moot point really.

The Raiders have been the biggest bust this year - they showed such promise last season but it's all gone spectacularly sour there. I'm still not convinced that Lynch was a better choice at RB than Murray, who is heading to the playoffs with the Vikes. Their secondary is appalling though - absolutely no threat to any receivers. Ironic that the Raiders (the team of Hayes and Haynes at CB) should be exposed so badly in that position.

That's accurate. Murray was due to get a nice deal and the Raiders don't have tons of dough. I'm sure they wanted to keep Murray and Lynch fell in their lap. And you forget to mention Sean Smith, who's been pretty bad too.

The Raiders lost their O coordinator and the replacement didn't work. I thought Ken Norton, Jr., was overmatched as D coordinator (they fired him mid-season). I had hoped that Del Rio had learned some lessons from his last coaching gigs, but he may not be a very good head coach. I felt badly for him because the Raiders were his hometown team (he grew up about five miles from where I live) and he had tears in his eyes at his press conference.

It's being reported Gruden is going back to the Raiders, but I don't know why he'd want to. Mark Davis is goofier than his dad and the Raiders don't have much money. They do have a good GM in Reggie MacKenzie, but I don't know if they have many other resources. And they have t buyout or pay Del Rio on the four year extension they signed him to last year.

Sean McVay and the Rams have kinda killed it for other head coaches because other GMs and owners see how young coaches have turned things around very quickly. The Niners gave Lynch and Shanahan unprecedented six year deals because I think Jed York knew he had to make good long term solutions. Now, with the gift of Garoppolo, they essentially have the most important position set and can go after O linemen in the draft. I'm excited again about the Niners after Harbaugh's last season at 8-8. I was never convinced Chip Kelly was the answer and his gimmicky offense wouldn't work in the pros. It did for a little while in Philly, but he wears teams out. Tomsula was a joke.

They have two more years here, which will be interesting. They share the stadium/arena complex with the A's and the Warriors and the Warriors are leaving too. The A's just got a downtown Oakland stadium voted down by the current tenants and don't want to stay in their current place. Which is a drag, since it's right next to a major freeway and a light rail system, BART, station right next to it.

The original Oakland Coliseum was a magical place to watch football. My dad took us to many games where we saw those great Raider teams of the '70s there.

I think the next two years will be hell for them to be honest - unless they can get a winning team out there, what possible reason is there for fans to turn up?

Raiders fans are pretty loyal. . . and have been through this before.

On more than one occasion... I remember seeing them at home at the LA Colisseum in 94....

I think I know why Gruden may be going back though... from the NFL's Ian Rappaport :

Oakland has been circling Gruden like a hawk since Saturday when NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Raiders would fire Del Rio if pursuing Gruden was a credible option, and that the Raiders would offer the former Raiders and Buccaneers coach upwards of $10 million annually and an ownership stake in the team. Rapoport added that Gruden was assembling a coaching staff in anticipation of returning to coaching, one that includes his former QB, Rich Gannon.

Ownership stake in the team, ahead of a (potentially) money making move to Las Vegas.... ummm

On ESPN, they were talking about this and the rest of the owners would have to approve it. Unlikely. Gruden also dismissed it in an interview this morning.

The only coach/gm/pres I know that has ownership stake in any team is Billy Beane of the A's.

I'm still waiting to find out why the Rams had only 14 carries with Todd "fucking" Gurley.

He got stuffed the first 9 carries, then had a breakout play, got stuffed again, dropped a couple of easy passes... bit of a mixed bag.
Having said that, how he didn't get the ball when the Rams were on the 2-yard line just baffles me. Same with the Bills just now in the first half....

Not kidding! What a mad game.
Pulling your QB from the field and starting a rookie freshman QB who hadn't played before.... I thought Sabin was downright crazy but who can doubt him now?

And there was that 16 yard loss on the sack the play before. That showed a ton of cojones.

Saban has got to be the best ever - 6 national championships in 10 years, I think it is.

It was such a good game, I stopped watching the Golden State Warriors on at the same time.

The press conference introducing Gruden is worth watching. Especially when Charles Woodson asks if he has a no-trade clause.

International series announced. Seahawks vs Raiders, Eagles vs Jags and Titans vs Chargers. I’m excited about the Chargers obviously but the Hawks/Raiders should be great.
