He's nothing like as bad as Bendtner, although he is a little immature.

We're meant to be getting the Palermo keeper. What he's like I don't know..I don't really trust AW when it comes to goalkeepers. I was crying out for us to buy Nauer or Lloris years ago..at a time when they were still gettable.

Yes he is a very good goalkeeper - on pure technique, he is one of the best that I see in the league, and his command of the penalty area is rare for someone so young, particularly considering that he's again often playing behind a makeshift defence (and he beats someone like De Gea or Mignolet here hands down). I'd agree that he was perhaps given too much responsibility too young, but considering Cech and Hart had bad years last year, and De Gea and Lloris only found their feet midway through it, I don't find many keepers in the Premiership who are better than him.

Ego is usually a very good thing for a keeper, in fact it is critical - and no way is it out of control like someone like Bendtner. Actually the one weakness that I seemed to see in Reina was a lack of one - he seemed to dwell on things, question himself, occasionally - even if I still think he was a great goalkeeper. I think in Szczesny you have exactly what Utd have in De Gea - and you essentially got him for free, or, well, developed him.

My main issue with Sczeczny is he sometimes looks a little heavy on his feet which means he doesn't pull off the kind of reaction saves you see from the best. Mind you he made a great save on sunday so perhaps he's getting better at that.

I know what you mean, but Seaman was also comparatively "heavy" on his feet...in the sense that he didn't pepper his movements with small steps like, say, a Hans Segers type goalkeeper. There are two schools of thought on that, and definitely Bob Wilson's was always that less is more, and that's particularly the case with goalkeepers of a taller frame (though I'm not sure precisely how much influence Wilson still wields at Arsenal).

Fellaini has handed in a transfer request. Let's hope the deal to United gets done in the next couple of hours.

Looks like we're getting Lukaku on loan. I'd be well pleased with that.

It would be Theo but I somehow doubt it.

Dave Whelan on the radio at the moment slamming Everton. The bid Everton made for James McCarthy was to be spread over four years and Wigan have rejected it and now won't sell. Doesn't look like Fellaini will move, although he's now handed in a transfer request.

I was listening to Radio 5 and watching football focus.

Christ the TV was boring. After a while I turned it off.

Incredible what an hour can do, isn't it?

Whelan is a fucking blowhard- and a fucking hypocrite too.

The sooner we don't have to deal with the wanker anymore, the better for all.

As was expected Fellaini signs for ManU for 27.5 million.
So we got Fellaini and Anichebe out, Barry, Lukaku and MacCarthy in plus we get to keep Vellios. Not bad after all.

Lukaku is a great loan for you. Once again Mourinho shows he doesn't trust young players.

I'm only mildly ecstatic about that! To get MccCarthy & Lukaku (especially) are great deals for us and Barry will do a similar job for us as Phil Neville has done - that's a pretty good day for Everton, I think.

Fellaini leaving is a loss but was kind of inevitable. I wish him well - and I seriously think he'll be a great addition for Man United.

Of course. keeping Baines has been marvellous news too - for how long, I'm not sure, but let's enjoy it while we can.

It's also nice to be vindicated on the estimation of his value - I recall some individuals on here laughing at my idea of Fellaini being worth in excess of £25 million. I'm sure they'll be along to acknowledge their naivety.

Don't think anyone was laughing at you? But it's notable that nobody else was in the fray for that cost, for a player who plays in a position where there was huge demand, lots of money, and not much supply. Given the money being thrown around, I'm pretty happy with the deal - I just wish the whole thing had been handled much, much better - there is nothing that could have stopped this from having been sorted out in July.

Oh there was one notorious individual who was questioning my estimation of Fellani's worth.

He's a Liverpool fan, if that helps... :D
