Defensively they are far superior, which is what counts at the sharp end of the table.

I wasn't necessarily saying Utd were overall better, but during that period they were far superior - it's not like Arsenal's mistakes happen out of nowhere, they were being harried all over the place. The point is, there is nothing lucky about a team taking its chances and another team not. Arsenal may have had more chances, more possession etc, but they weren't in any way unlucky to lose. And either way, I'd think a 7-point gap is pretty realistic between the teams and I think it's pretty realistic that this is roughly how it'll finish by end-season (as it "should" be given the extortionate spending of Utd).

And they defended like utter cunts at the start of the game.

I think the lack of celebration around Sanchez's goal was embarrassing last night - it's abundantly clear that half of that side weren't prepared to join in with his post goal celebrations, and his desperate need to be mobbed by them all ... that's indicative of a player that at least half of his colleagues want gone.

Embarrassing? - I dunno, I rather like the fact it happened that way.

Iwobi is so average, you wouldn’t see a player like him in the Other Top 6 teams.

And what has happened to Bellerin this season?

And God that Mike Dean is such a cock.

Always an absolute wanker when he refereed Reading and still a fucking game changing disaster.

He has been struggling with his desire to give in to the Dark Side and the need to track down and destroy the Resistance.

After that silly "handball" penalty the other day, Arsenal cannot be happy about that one just now. Football, it seems, is no longer a contact sport.

(worth noting that Chelsea have an argument that Wilshere should have received a second yellow before scoring, though)

I looked at that penalty (along with everyone else) at least 20 times from all different angles in slow motion - and I still couldn't see contact, let alone enough contact to necessitate Hazard's swan song to the floor. If Taylor can say hand-on-heart that he definitely saw it from where he was and, on balance, he was convinced a penalty was the correct decision, then he must have the most exceptional eyesight in the western world.

I think there was contact. But it was a slight tap. If that is a penalty then we will be seeing games finish 38-31 now because every attempted challenge will be called a foul.

Well quite.

Having said that - they were unlucky with that decision, but Arsenal definitely dodged a bullet with Wilshere who really should have gone. Outrageous dive, especially for a player already on a booking.

Good to see him playing really well again though and that was some finish for his goal. He just needs to stay fit and I think he's a cert for the World Cup squad.

I'm the first one to call out Arsenal players for diving when I see it, but I think the criticism Wilshere seems to be getting is a little unfair; he might have gone down a little easily, but there was certainly contact - it wasn't just a blatant dive. I thought it was a penalty too (talking here of the Hazard incident) albeit a very soft one.
I was surprised by the amount of challenges the ref let go last night, but it made it for an exciting 'blood and thunder' game.

One commentator last night said that Arsenal were totally dominant over Chelsea from around 92 to 2004. Then Chelsea were over Arsenal until 2017. Now they're about the same and the score and play reflected that.

Before Abramovic appeared on the scene Chelsea were of little consequence

Not strictly true. They were definitely ascending from the mid-90s onwards, what with Hoddle, Gullit, Zola, Vialli and Desailly. They would probably be the equivalent of what Spurs are now, but the arrival of Abramovich catapulted them into the big spending zone.
