Auld Ronnie looks to be on fine form, and the commentators fawning over him seems to be getting worse and worse.

Surely this must be the year of Willie Thorne?

You can sorta understand how Ronald can get bored with snooker playing like that. Not many players in any sport can be that good and appear not to be that bothered that they're that good.

Ronnie for the title, as nearly per usual?

Steve Davies offically retired on Sunday.

Class line from Barry Hearn.

You retired ten years ago, we just didn't tell you.

You kind of get the impression that Ronnie really doesn't want to do this anymore - yeah when he has to he really tries but he struggles to motivate himself in the first place.

I was exceedingly pleased to see Judd Trump get beaten by Ding yesterday - I saw an interview with Trump beforehand where he completely wrote Ding off and gave the impression he only needed to turn up to win. Now he knows better, the arrogant arse.

I switched the snooker on late last night, just to catch the last frame between Ronnie and Hawkins. That table was a complete mess, you couldn't have asked for a better situation to beat Ronnie, with 6 or 7 reds safe in the baulk area. It's a pity all the big names are going out though, it's good not to have all the same faces winning everything, but you want a few of the big guns getting to the latter stages.

Having said that, Selby's not missing much this morning.

I have to confess to having a small investment on Ding at 3/1 early yesterday...but Selby looks ominous, it has to be said.

That's looking like good money. McManus is getting ripped an new one here by Ding, is it too early to be talking about a whitewash in the semi-final?

Yes. it was.

Hope Ding wins it, seems like he's been around for years.

What a semi final between Selby and Fu. Last fame practically won with foul shot points.

Man alive that session last night was like watching Terry Griffiths vs Cliff Thorburn in their heyday... torturous but fantastic safety snooker.

I'm not sure Ding will win this but I think that really took it out of Selby, despite his 10-7 lead.

In the end Selby just ground out the win...after that very first session (where nerves clearly got the better of Ding) the game was a tie. And, by Christ, Selby had some amazing rub of the green, didn't he?
