Reading are an odd team.
Almost secure in the play off places but 6-1 down at half time is not exactly confidence inspiring.

Re: The Championship
Congrats on that. Hope you do well.
And then we go and give Aston Villa (on the back of 5 home wins and 5 clean sheets) a stuffing at Villa Park.....

I can join in on that, too.
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.

I'll be back next season for sure. Back in the Championship we might even win the odd game now and then...

Then go 1 down and struggle to beat already relegated Rotherham, and get absolutely stuffed 3-0 in the 1st half against relegation threatened Forest.
There is a certain and admirable resilience and bouncebackability (as they like to call it on the local radio) and I have said it before but it's a mystery to me how we have managed to stay in the play off zone most of the season and now sit in 3rd.
Maybe the fact we are 3rd at this late stage with a goal difference of +1 says something. I suppose when we are bad, we are very very bad, and when we are good we are hard to beat with odd flashes of Dutch brilliance.
We'll need more than the odd flash to win through the play offs one would imagine - can't see it myself but Stam might just be the man to bring it about.
If we were to stay down and keep Stam, next season could produce some real entertainment. The former of those 2 outcomes seems far more likely to happen unfortunately.

Re: The Championship
What an unambitious stagnant display that was from Reading. Bloody awful.
Stam might have achieved more than expected this season (far more actually) but there's been precious little to enjoy unless all you are interested in is results.

Re: The Championship
Yeah I get he has a very possession orientated game plan but it counts for fuck all unless you actually do something with it. Gutting result but it is what it is, hopefully lessons will be learned.

Re: The Championship
Considering what Wagner had to spend etc his achievement to get Huddersfield promoted is one of the managerial feats of the season.
The game itself was one of the worst to ever be played at Wembley. At least Huddersfield looked slightly interested in this scoring thing, but Reading would have settled for penalties and not actually have played a minute of football if they could have. If I was a Reading fan I would have been absolutely livid - to lose happens, but to lose without even attempting to win - that's criminal.
For that reason alone, the best team won.

Re: The Championship
Garry Monk appointed Boro manager. The best choice from those considered, I'd say. He did a remarkable job last season to get Dirty Leeds to the edge of the play-offs, considering the instability he had to deal with at the club.
Nigel Pearson will always be a legend on Teesside because of his spell as a player, but I'm relieved he has been passed over. Sketchy record as a manager, and he appears slightly unhinged.

Meanwhile, Rovers sink to their first defeat of the season at Southend. They're probably bottom already.

Re: The Championship
So, a 1-0 defeat at Wolves thanks to a ridiculous defensive howler by Ayala and a few missed chances. Still, a work in progress at the moment with 6 debutants starting. Enough there to be optimistic.
