Would be my guess too. I would hire him as asst. coach, but he's too unrestrained as a head coach. I know he did well in Chicago, but he wears down his players. Too old school.

At lunch, I watched some of LeBron's interview for media day and Draymond, Jordan Bell, and new member, Jerebko for the Warriors.

Warriors play the Lakers tonight in pre-season. All starters are supposed to start except for Draymond, nursing a bad knee.

Sucks that the Lakers won, but it is only pre season. Besides, I got to see Lonzo airball a wide open 3 so all is not lost

The Warriors could care less about the pre-season. Watch Friday or Saturday's game in San Jose for final tune up to get a more accurate view. They play the Lakers again for final pre-season game. I look more how the starters are shaping up and how the young guys are progressing.

My take: Vets are in mid season form. Curry, Klay, KD, Iguodala, Livingston all look good. I like the way Looney and Bell are playing and are two-headed monster. They've been starting Damien Jones, essentially to see if they want to pay the option. I wouldn't.

I say, keep Looney and Bell, and when they go small, you have Draymond, or even Jerebko, to fill spot. Wait for Boogie.

Cook seems to have more control of his game and the offense and Jacob Evans can fill McCaw spot, since he doesn't look like he's going to re-sign, which is stupid. The Warriors are thinking about only keeping 14 and see who shakes out in final cuts of preseason.

SF Chronicle writer, Bruce Jenkins, is good NBA writer. Here are his takes on Eastern and Western Conferences:

I have to say I'm excited about the new season. I really don't understand how people have Philly unquestionably better than Milwakee, I really don't see it.

Except for Giannis, not nearly as sexy.

Bucks have steady players, but only one dazzling, mind blowing player. Philly has Embiid, Simmons, Reddick, Saric and then there's the Fultz factor.

Bucks are a bunch of Robert Covingtons.

I'm not saying that the Bucks are necessarily better, but they certainly are the same level. Embiid and Simmons are great if somewhat fragile and the rest are the same level as Bucks but less physical. Fultz hasn't played much so I don't know how good he can be.

I didn't mean Fultz is good, but he's an object of intrigue. His new shot is ugly as hell. Looks like a 5th grader's. Or Markus', I'm sure.

I've had a (very small) investment in Toronto for the season... I think Kawhi Leonard may just be the added ingredient (at both ends of the court) to take them closer than last years ultimately disappointing season.

I can't see Toronto in the finals. Kawhi might have a great year, but I don't think that's going to be enough to beat the Celtics.

Good, short article on how Toronto compares to other leading East teams, Boston and Philly.

https://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba ... ontenders/

The Warriors have to look for motivation now and they've found it in this being the last year in Oakland before moving to San Francisco. It's also probably Durant's last year here and DeMarcus Cousins' first.

Also, now it's about history

Yep.

Last night, after the Warriors' game, Kenny Smith, Barkley and Shaq were asked how many games they thought they Warriors would lose if they were focused each night.

The consensus was three or four.

TV ratings for the first couple games:

Even with the inevitably of the Warriors last season, the NBA enjoyed its best regular season viewership since the 2013-14 season. Sports Business Daily reported that games across ABC, TNT, ESPN and NBA TV averaged 1.28 million viewers, the league’s best mark since 1.29 million for the 2013-14 regular season. TNT’s schedule averaged 1.7 million viewers, the network’s most-watched NBA regular season since 2013-14. ESPN’s average of 1.628 million viewers across 87 games was up 4 percent from 1.566 million in 2016-17. ABC’s 17-game package averaged 3.818 million viewers, the second highest average viewership since the 2013-14 season. NBA TV averaged 314,000 viewers for its package, up nominally from 312,000. Regional RSNs averaged a 2.4 local rating, up 4 percent from the year before.

When I started following the Warriors, the play-by-play announcer was a guy named Hank Greenwald. He really made me love the sport. Later, he went on to do the Giants. He hasn't broadcasted for years, but I'll miss him.
