Pages is good as word processor, but Numbers is no Excel. It is however good enough for most people who aren't trying to use vast macro encrusted Excel s/sheets. Like me.

Pip pip!

All true. Keynote is way better than Powerpoint, but Excel is better than Numbers.
Of course, I was mostly stoned at the time.

I've just found this: Clutter.

It works with iTunes. After installing it, you open iTunes and then play stuff. The LP cover appears in a smaller window, meaning you can minimize itunes and still have the pic on the desktop. So far, no big deal. The nice thing about this is that you can then drag that image onto your desktop and leave it their. It means you could - in Leopard - force Clutter and iTunes to open in an otherwise unused Space which, when you go to, is littered - or cluttered with LP covers. Much like the lounge floor after an all night session impressing you mates with you record collection before passing out. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it can keep recently ripped LPs handy. you can, of course, delete the cover on the desktop without deleting the files. Also, the music doesn't have to be in the iTunes music folder.

VirtualBox, a free PC emulation tool.

http://www.virtualbox.org/

It does the same sort or thing as Parallels or VmWare Fusion, but it's free. It's produced by Sun Microsystems, so shouldn't suddenly disappear. Intel Mac only, of course.

There's versions for Windows (XP and Vista) and Linux too.

It's a public beta, and therefore could be a bit buggy in places. However the beta version has been made available to registered developers for some time now, so most of the bugs should have been stomped on.

Safari 4 does seem to fix rendering problems I've had with some websites in the past. I can now browse the various Johnston Press local newspaper sites without sections disappearing underneath each other, for example.

I've had to uninstall the Safari 4 beta as it's just not stable enough at the moment to be useful. There appears to be an intermittent problem loading new pages.

Got it sorted, btw.

I am having problems with playing DVDs with different region codes. I have downloaded VLC several times but it will only play DVDs with the same regional coding as that my Mac is set for. Is there any way of overriding/switching off the regional coding limitations in a Mac?

Replacing your DVD drive firmware with a hacked region-free version is the usual solution, but not all drives have hacked firmware available.

My iTunes won't open when I click the icon. Luckily, it will open only when I connect my player to the computer. I read some fixes for the problem but I can't understand the jargon. Little help. please.
