Whilst tidying up some folders I inadvertently renamed a folder to include a full stop at the end. It disappeared. Looking online this is actually expected (if inconvenient) behaviour. However, I need to get this folder back as it contains some important documents. This is hampered by the fact that I clearly mistyped the new name as attempts to rename it using rd /s "\\?\C:Users\Andrew\Foldername." haven't worked in the command prompt, nor does the folder appear wwhen I run a dir command.
Is there a way to (a) find the folder and (b) rename it so that I can access its contents again?

Not got a Windows 7 installation to test with here. You could try to see if PowerShell will let you rename it, but I've had little success with PowerShell in the past when it comes to file operations.

Tried looking for a file that was in the folder but no joy. I'll give Powershell a try.
