RAM being eaten up by trojan

Postby Butch Manly » 24 May 2014, 12:19

I stupidly opened a spam email a few days ago and now the RAM on my Mac Mini keeps being eaten up in minutes (2.5 gigs worth). Haven't been able to detect any virus or trojan with the freeware I D/L'd from the Apple App Store.

Any ideas on what to do?

As long as you didn't go as far as giving the spam E-mail your administrator's password if it prompted for one, cleaning up the system shouldn't be too difficult.

Activity Monitor should be able to tell you the name of the process that's eating up all of the memory, and where it's located.

Cheers for that, Paul. It seemd to be a Google Chrome issue so I uninstalled then reinstalled it and all seems well again. Ta!
