Printer install causing Delayed Write Fail on my external HD

Postby Arthur Crud » 26 Jan 2012, 22:23

Jeez what gives here chaps?

Bought an HP all-in-one printer the other day and now every time I switch it on I get the error message on my F: (external HDD) which of course has all my music. I can see the folders but they are all empty. They are there, viewable and playable if I boot up but don't physically switch my printer on.

Windows - Delayed Write Failed
Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\$Mft. The data has been lost....blah blah blah

But once I'm booted and I switch the printer on.....files 'disappear' and I get the message.

I haven't tried uninstalling/ re-installing the printer yet....but how the hell do these things get inter-related in the first place?

There's several possible causes of this problem. This may be of help:
