Simple Mac (Safari) question
Simple Mac (Safari) question
If I select the 'New Window' option whilst browsing and then minimise a window I don't need at that moment, how do I get it back when I require it? Clicking on the compass icon doesn't bring it back.

Doesn't it minimise into the dock?

No. That's what threw me. Not sure if it is a new Lion thing. When I go to select 'New Tab' then it presents me with a 'wall' of previous pages visited from which I can choose, and the minimised page will usually be there. It's a convoluted way to maximise a minimised page though.

Ah, I'm not using Lion yet, and I use Firefox, so I guess I won't be of any help. Sorry.

Re: Simple Mac (Safari) question
Yeah, well I was using Firefox but there is a long-standing problem with the payment verification demanded by my bank and Firefox itself. I grew tired of having to start the purchasing process again after the whole thing froze time and again.
Anyway, thanks for trying to sort this out.

I don't understand the question.
Click the minimize button and the page goes into the dock. Click it in the dock to bring it up again.
Command + T for a new tab opens a new page at the Homepage.
That's what should happen

If I minimise this page I am writing now, it shoots into the compass icon (i.e. it disappears 'into' the icon). Now, if I open another page whilst the original one is 'hidden' and do the same thing (i.e. minimise it like I did the first), I can only maximise the most recent (i.e. the second) page by clicking on the compass icon.
If I then close that page completely, I can get back to the first page but what happens if I don't want to do that? There appears to be no obvious way for me to maximise the first page without closing the second one.
I'm not sure if that is clear. Probably not.

Correct!
If you minimise the page, it should drop into the toolbar at the bottom. Next to the trashcan icon
Re: Simple Mac (Safari) question
Ah, you see it doesn't. It just disappears 'into' the compass icon.

Re: Simple Mac (Safari) question
What I would do is delete it and re-install.
Download Safari again then before installing it delete the old version with app-delete
http://www.reggieashworth.com/appdelete
It'll take away all the other bits and bobs with the programme that may be causing issues.
Try reinstalling them. I suspect you'd lose all the bookmarks and stored passwords - just depends how much of an issue it is.

It's just an irritant really when I want to work across windows. Might reinstall. Thanks for the link and advice.
