Some thoughts on Ley Lines

It feels an album of two halves - the six movements of the title track bookending it have a classic motorik feel. Sandwiched between are a series of spook-songs, with atmospheric settings and even some vocals. For me the strongest of these are 'Speed Dating in the Amazonas' and 'Debbie McGee in a Box', where the arrangements feel more fleshed. That isn't to dismiss the other songs however; the album is great throughout, working especially well as a soundtrack to drives through the Dorset countryside.

Another fine release from Conny Olivetti. I have listened to Ley Lines at least a half a dozen times the past several weeks and though I already expected the vocals (due to previous reviews), I was still somewhat shocked. In a pleasant way! Beautiful voice in an understatement. And blended perfectly with the rich textures provided by the musical soundscape.

The watermark set by Strategems may be tough to beat. But Ley Lines, while coming close, is in a slightly different realm from the two previous releases I've listened to. It stands on it's own very well and will be gracing the drawer of my CD player for years to come.

Excellent work, as always!

well, most of it was recorded during the sessions for Edgeland and Ley Lines.
approx 75% that did not fit the concepts for those two albums, so
two months to assembling tracks and coming up with two additional tracks
or something :D
