It'll be interesting to hear vocals, the Man vs Woman-track was quite cool. Do you sing yourself too, Leif?

thanks Maarten!

No, I don't sing, at least not on my own albums!
Be glad for that ;)

/ there are only three tracks with singing on them.
so thats 3 out of 19!

to be honest Im struggling with this one, not the music as such
that always comes easy, Im happy to say.
but it's the whole release thingy
the usual questions, is it worth it and so on
and there is a wee problem with the packaging, still to be solved
can't find a digipack for double albums
so that would be two single albums
aka double the cost
or
one single album, like Probing with the second disc in a single white sleeve
don't look so good, so Im probably not going that way
/ ah well, time will tell

For what it is worth....

I think your previous albums were beautifully packaged.
The whole process, from musical concepts to production, up to the design of the artwork is what defines an artist.
The special care you take from selecting the photographs/artworks to designing the letter fonts on the sleeve, it tells something.
You have taken extremely good care of your art o far, I'm sure that whatever you decide, we as listeners and fans won't be let down.

Good luck and, especially, enjoy the moment- a release is like a little gift to the world. :)

Interesting. For one moment I thought your download was released almost 3 years ago...
I am struggling with the (I think) American way the sequence of month/day/year over the European way of having day/year/month...and now this!

New album out now! Free download or name your price!

/
First review of the new album, eleVen.
Fredrik Jonasson (from Silencio Stampa and White Birches)

“Conny Olivetti never seizes to amaze me. Few can be this incredibly prolific.
This may not be impressive per se, but to do so without in any way compromising
on quality and bringing out music which is the complete opposite to “second-rate” – is.

So, when in Olivetti’s world it takes an unusual long time between albums,
the new album ‘eleVen’ is – of course – a double (‘Probing the Sonic Heritage’
saw the light of day in June-2013). ‘eleVen’ does – of course – not have a single weak track either.

On the last two albums, Linnea has contributed to some tracks with her amazing
vocals and she turns up here as well. The first track ‘Tara King – part one, two, three’
is really strong and clearly displays the symbiosis between Olivetti’s
electronic soundscapes and Linnea’s voice.

Style-wise it’s all familiar territory; Olivetti’s patented Kraftwerk- and Yello-fragranced,
yet very individual sound which has been stretched to perfection; serious darkness
in a nano-second breaking up into unlimited playfulness urging you to dance.

To me, this album is the perfect, artistic culmination of the trio of albums Ley Lines”,
”Probing the Sonic Heritage” and ”eleVen”

the future?

The future of physical releases from Conny Olivetti is not secured at the moment.

So far the idea behind the group ”the faithful few” has been a success.
https://connyolivetti.wordpress.com/the-faithful-few/

The idea is that you get a physical copy of every new album
from Olivetti in return for some feedback.

Thats all! Very simple and for me it has worked out fine,
the feedback makes up for the cost so to speak.

I have no problem with the cost for physical copies as long as I get feedback.
So far it’s been approximate 90% that delivered feedback.

But now, it’s alarmingly low!
The group consist of 30 people, most of them from BCB.

Since the release of the new album eleVen, only 9 have delivered feedback.
9 out of 30!

Not good at all.

I have full respect that people have a life, other things to do and so on….

So this is not so much a complaint about the situation, more like stating the fact,
that it’s not working any more.

Not sure how many I reach by writing here, but it’s a start.

So, thanks for everything so far, it’s been a blast.
But right now I don’t have the motivation to go on any more.

Sure, I will produce sound, but the urge to get it out there,
is for the moment lost.

That's a pity. I for one am a huge fan. Very disappointing that so few have taken the time to post just a few words.

I'd buy the next release....do it by kickstarter or similar, or get postage up front.

Best wishes

Thanks Jim!
Well, it is what it is, or so.... but sure I need to think of other ways to get my music out.
Digital download is the easy way, but I don't like it as I like/need to have some contact with the listener.
Thats one reason I started "the faithful few" But nothing last forever I guess.
Not sure many would really buy if that was the way to go :?
Anyhow, thanks for your post on FB! :-)

all the best

I'm truly sorry that I have let you down and made you feel this way, Leif. I've promised a review and I certainly took the time to listen to Eleven ( getting it on my iPod was taking a bit of time but I traveled with it for 2 weeks now) and just was too lame to write up my feelings....

The first disc is your most coherent album for sure, it sounds conceptual in the way you have designed the rhythm patterns to reappear and topically the samples meld into each other with seeming ease. It is very skeletal for sure, just glimmers of melody passing by and I like those tracks that have those melodic passages the best- Blue Sky has that radiant shimmer of it that I really like, Noize Centralis is Eno in funereal mode and with its many sampled voices and background almost is like a tribute to Kraftwerks' Radioactivity. The centerpiece is Tara King which is a good template for the side, meanders a bit but I like the base rhythm pattern a lot and like how it reappears elsewhere.

The second disc opens with Descending and this is a cracking track! Like a bit of prime Edgar Froese to these Tangerined ears. That's always been my favourite Olivetti- just like Human Nature off Stratagems, it is fully fleshed out, dubby and multilayered ecstacy.
Man vs Woman works on so many levels- it's playful how the vocals and samples interplay (bit of a Beyonce-moment in there too, lyrically?). Just like Public Service Broadcasting, you have a knack of making the samples work very well in the surroundings of the music- especially in tracks like Imagination which have a nice creepy edge like the vintage 80s darkwave-artists. And tracks like Oriental Device with its mesmeric sequence has found its way onto my workout-program as one of those tracks to row endlessly by...just groovy as fuck! Reminds me very much of The Orb in their prime.....the closer Tranquility Bay with its Native American-like percussion is a very suitable way to close proceedings....

Brother, if you feel let down by late responses, don't...the people who are yet to listen to this are missing out. Overall I think it is your strongest album since Stratagems which is my favourite...there's a lot of thought in this album and the experiment with vocals has worked out pretty well- I'm loving the way Linnea sang Blue Sky and Man vs Woman, the sort of throwaway vocals on Tara King appeals a bit less to me.....
Please keep making music. It's a treasure building for sure.

No probs Maarten!
I never doubt that you would deliver, it was just the sum of it all, so to say.
To few feedbacks and to many that did not notified me of delivery of discs, upon asking often the answer was
- Yeah, got it two weeks ago!
And there still are some that I've no idea if they got it or not.

So, to much of that and maybe I should have waited some more weeks before shouting out loud
But its a problem, how long shall one wait, where do you draw the line.
If I wait to long maybe some will forgot all about it...

I probably have to think about how to get my music out in the future.
Starting to let people pay for it is not my way.
Even if 50 people pay for an album of mine, it does not mean a thing to me, if I don't have some contact with those who listen, as with "the faithful few"

Anyhow, time will tell!

thanks for your kind words!
take care
