Re: Ray's Photos
Part two
is a bit shorter, owing to the over-run in Part One. 1983, Maytime I'm guessing from the first two pics
Purple Haze
Bluebells at, I think, Kew, though I'd be happy to be corrected by anyone who recognizes the building
Shelter
Brighton (or possibly Hove)
Passing By
Busted
Billy never was much good at keeping his limbs intact: not sure what he has broken here
Back Pages
Fisherman Bob keeps up with the sports headlines
tomorrow, time pressure

Re: Ray's Photos
Part one is in the late spring of 1983, chronicling the lifestyles of the stoned and whimsical
Ambition
It isn't immediately obvious, but that's a 7g ball of Afghani Bill is waving a lucifer at.
The sharper-sighted among you may note that Bill's fracture has switched to his left hand: the slide was flopped in the scanner
Stepping Out
First appearance here of Ed's daughter Laura
Someone Moved the Floor
Nom Nom
Laura and Daphne
Gronfff!
Butch and Tosca get their heads down and get stuck in
He Shoots, He Scores, He Flies off the Table and Breaks Both Legs
Fisherman Bob and I get our Subbuteo heads on. Flash photography (I would have saved it otherwise) by old One-hand, I presume
Tomorrow, another country

Part Two
It's the morning of 18th March, and the snow is back. Expletive, expletive, expletive.
Spring is Postponed
Wild Times at Feeder Central
Coexistence
Fancy a Picnic?
Drifting
That's It, I'm off Indoors
Eee, That's Better
Tomorrow, in and out of whiteworld

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Two
probably about Whitsun (end of May) 1983, a trip to Scotland to visit Chip's mother at Drumbuie Cottage, New Mains. The weather was not especially conducive to photography.
First, an establishing shot
Garden Debrief
Ripple
Somewhere in the Solway Firth
Sunny Interval
I could probably work out exactly where this is with a map, but I don't suppose anyone cares if I don't bother
Local Breed
Characteristic Pose
Joan inherited this pose from her mother, the Granule, and passed it on to Chip. All three suffered from Gardener's Twitch
Bonny Bank
Sorry
More from (just) north of the Border tomorrow

Re: Ray's Photos
Part one continues the jaunt to Dumfries and Galloway for the half-term holidays at the end of May 1983 (Chip still working as a teacher at this time).
Early Closing
Stoned
Raiders of the Last Chip
Blackcap larceny in Dumfries
Sweetheart Abbey
Recapitation
The Holy Potatoes
to be continued. Somewhen soonish

Still snowed in in the garden on 19 March this year
Over the Fence

The Tortoise and the Hare

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Two
Today's selection from the early summer of 1973 features Chip and her mum, and a fancy wedding in Somerset
Family Pictures
Three scans of transparencies of prints: Chip aged 20, Joan about 1950, Joan with Chip's brother, Peter, in 1943
Strawberries
Sunglasses
There's Posh
Billy's erstwhile love, Sally, is marrying into the Strachey family. Marquee on the lawn, that sort of thing
Brighton Contingent
Bill was not there, naturally, but the older of his two younger sisters, Tita, was there with her first-born. Tita and Sally were friends at Sussex Uni. That's how Bill met her. The guy with the moustache is Slinger, on/off boyf of youngest sister Joyce, who turns up in the second pic.
Scrubs Up Well
Scruff-bag Paul T, a man who usually appears in these pages wreathed in smoke and beards, was in fact introduced to me by Sally: they were school friends in Somerset
Star Turn
Tomorrow, more hot fun in the summertime

Re: Ray's Photos
In Part Two, it's the end of March and the snow is going, so I'm off up the hill
Other People's Houses
Upton Hellions and Beyond
Meadowside and Snows
In this case, 'Snows' is the name of the upper street.
Rose and Crown Hill
Trudging Tobogganist
Swept
Furrows
Soon be over, promise

Re: Ray's Photos
I only dip in to these occasionally, but there's some nice pics in and amongst. I recognise the bride from some pics you posted a couple of years ago, I think.
'The Granule'. Etymology please.
The tramp with the bag of spuds looks familiar, but I can't place him.

Chip's Grandmother was tiny, about 4 ft 10 and slender.

Re: Ray's Photos
In part one, more March views of Mid-Devon in the snow from the hill behind my house. Part two, though, is set in the summer of 1983, and it's sizzly

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Two
Basket Case
Brighton
Mantel Shelf
A first floor flat in Electric Avenue, Brixton
Sun Shine on Brixton
And four from Cricklewood:
Coming Along
No curtains required
Chrispy
This man plays - or played - ferocious blues breakdowns on the harp that often drew blood
Eat a Peach
And why not? Getting some sugar and liquid in, halfway through a long hot tripped-out Frisbee game with Bill, who took this
Freefall on Mars
Pussa zones out
Back tomorrow, I hope

Re: Ray's Photos
Part one today is well into summer in 1983, as evidenced by the flesh on display, not all of it attractive...oh, wait, that pic of me shirtless isn't in this batch. As you were. Seems like July.
Anni
Pimms
The Elephant in the Room
Drinks in the Garden
Garden belonging to Pete and Anni, in Tottenham, about 100 yards from where i spent the first 20 months or so of my life
The Furry Fiend
Shapes
The original of this was taken on a damaged film, and I've had to do a lo of restoration and cropping, which is why it's rather indistinct, but I thought it was worth it because of the lines of the blue towel, the woman's gesture, the two profiles. No idea who they were, I was just lurking with the lifeguard on the eastern beaches at Brighton.
The Lifeguard
Next time, further fun and frolics in London-by-the-Sea

There might be a few more guest appearances of the melty stuff, but that's it for snow events this spring. Hurrah!

Re: Ray's Photos
Part Two
July '83, and we begin in Brighton.
Domestic Scene
One Great Leap for Catkind
There I was taking a pic of Biggles from the open window of Billy's ground floor flat, when the fool cat decided to jump across the basement
area to the windowsill.
The Holiday Spirit
A Nice Cup of Tea
Debs and Plang
Mart and His Table Tennis Trophy
The Gay Gooner
Hm, three pics out of six of people rolling joints.
Anyway, this guy was the younger brother of a friend from my days as a salaryman, and briefly shared the Mansions with me between more suitable lodgings
tomorrow, back with the fast set in That London as Chip gets a year older
