Just before I left for my hols, there was a power outage at home that wiped out some cookies, so I sent off for a 'reset password' - a string of gobbledegook – to get back in on my desktop.
There was no problem with the laptop, so I left it. And when it arbitrarily demanded I log in, I couldn't, because I'd neglected to make a note of the new password (or to change it back to the new one), and I had joined from an e-mail account I rarely use, and for which this laptop is not set up
