Problems with photobucket, I think. They were coming and going as I put them up – all showing for me now.

OK, I got it done. Part one chunters on with the stuff from around the turn of the Eighties. I'm in Essex, for the (second) wedding of Clive's older brother John, who was born before World War II. Nine years older than Clive, he left school at 16 or 17 and advanced in the publishing world, being the golden boy of the family. Then, as Clive got a first and started a doctorate, he grew oddly envious of his little brother's success academically. He chucked in his job, and followed Clive's path exactly, same university, same degree course, similar academic career to follow, without ever quite achieving the same heights. Which is why he was getting married in Essex – Wivenhoe, to be exact; like Clive, he was doing a second degree at the University of Essex.

In Part one today, a rather splendid sequence of a single Brighton sunset- a wintry one, presumably, as it's setting over the sea - taken from the Palace Pier, and one more tacked on for luck

February 1918 starts as unpromisingly as January ended: not getting about much, trying to make the best of it photographically when I do ...

Part one is a family celebration – I suspect my mother's 60th in January 1982. Please think kindly of me. A picture of Brighton at the end as an eyeball-cleanser.
Part Two is still in the beginning of February, and things are starting to look up. A bit.

Ooh I've come over all unpredictable: Last night I discovered the answer to the puzzle of why the archive photos
skip about like sweet but confusing little lambikins. I had a setting I didn't even know I could change wrongly set
on my iphoto files. Reordering everything means some would be missed out, and one or two of them actually
worth looking at, so that's what I'm doing today.
