Random Music stuff thread.

Over the last few days, I've noticed instruments in a Big Star song I had never heard before. In "Give Me Another Chance," there's what sounds like english horn or flugelhorn flitting out of the mellotron. It's pretty baroque -- a move Eric Matthews would cop but blown all out and wrong. I've been listening to this record for probably 20 years and I never noticed it. At 2:48-3:05. I had always just listened to the freaky mellotron. Who knew?

I've decided that "Turned On" by The Night Shadows (aka Little Phil & The Nightshadows) is the best damn song of all time to feature lead kazoo.

I've decided that the records I owned when I was 14 were some of the best records ever made, and that includes Mercyful Fate.

T-Berry is anti-Carpenters.
This situation demands violence.

I'm at my parents' for another nine days, and I have one CD here (Caetano Veloso). Their shelves of classical recordings beckon.

I moved and of course one of the first things I did was set up my stereo. Turns out the left speaker isn't working, or a channel is blown on the receiver. I have no idea and it's annoying.

Apparently there's a form of music called Nardcore.

Thank you, Wikipedia 'random article' link.

from desert island discs intro to s.cowell

A lot of his early successes were gimmicky hits – singing wrestlers, the Power Rangers and Teletubbies – but it was first Robson and Jerome and then Westlife who brought him credibility.

Err.yerrrh!

If I start playing Billy Joel's "Always a Woman" in my head, it always turns into "Working Class Hero". It's kinda cool. Especially if you have my head.

If I only had some Bill Joel, I could make this work.

She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes
By giving you no time instead of it all
Till the pain is so big you feel nothing at all
She hides like a child, but she's always a woman to me

She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you
She has tortured and scared you for twenty hard years
When you can't really function you're so full of fear
Yeah, She steals like a thief, but she's always a woman to me

Ohhh... she takes care of herself
She can wait if she wants, she's ahead of her time
Ohhh... and she never gives out
And she never gives in, she just changes her mind

If you want to be a hero well just follow me
If you want to be a hero well just follow me
