I don't know if this had anything to do with Hal Blaine's passing, but before I smacked the 'snooze' button on my clock radio this morning I heard the DJ refer to "a bunch of LA session musicians" as "The Wrecking Group".
If you've got nothing to do, don't do it here.

The ASO is promoting two separate rental concert in the hall with one email. Subject line:

ADAM ANT & CELTIC WOMAN

It's like the worst mashup. Or the best?!

No, definitely the worst.

So my wife tells me she was listening to a Japanese radio show one morning and the announcer tells a story about this guy in a restaurant who sees Bono with another guy at a table there. The guy is a big Bono fan so when he sees Bono's companion get up and go to the toilet he stops him and asks if it would be okay if he came over to their table to get an autograph. He says, sure, that would be fine. So the guy goes over and says how much he loves his music and gets an autograph. Finally, when he is done eating he goes to the cashier and the cashier tells him there is no need to pay, that Mr. Springsteen already paid for his breakfast.

Note that the artist's name is mistakenly given as Randy Wood in the first paragraph. (Coincidentally or not, this was the name of both a former president of Dot Records and a former president of Vee-Jay Records.)

Somebody at cool78s.com says: "I do not know if there where any further releases in this series, but the tongue in check tone of the press release that accompanied it may indicate that it was a one off gimmick for this release. It does, however, sound as good as the press release would like you to believe!"

Meanwhile Jim Childs at quora.com posted this Billboard clip from the following November...

... which doesn't disprove the "one-off gimmick" theory. (If they were serious about the format, one assumes that they would have launched it with several records by popular artists, rather than with one record by an unknown performer with an "acquired taste" voice.)

Wow. I don’t remember that, never before heard of it and have never knowingly seen one the records in question. I’m not sure I would even believe it if you hadn’t posted this. “One-off gimmick” seems about right.
