That looks smart - there's loads of good stuff I already know and I agree about Best Coast's return to form. Young Adults were in an NME article last month about the Baltimore scene (does that sound Geographically feasible for a Boston band) from which Fat History Month were brillianr, so I will listen out for them.

I think Baltimore and Boston are pretty far apart in the scheme of things, at least three states away. I'm sure there's a bunch of stuff going on in both places though. One of, if not my favourite album of the year is by Roomrunner, a Baltimore band.

Balto bands will play Boston.
I was in a Boston band that played bmore and dc....
Let U be the set of all united sets, K be the set of the kids and D be the set of things divided.
Then it follows that ∀ k ∈ K: K ∈ U ⇒ k ∉ D

Oh sure, I'm just not sure you'd lump them in to a "scene", they'd be separate scenes? Unless they play there all the time I guess.

My memory was wrong - Young Adults are part of a Massachusetts scene! My US Geography is still rubbish, but that makes a lot more sense to me now.

I know it is not a golden period for UK rock music, but it still seems a little surprising that every American city has more going on than the whole of this country.

There are some decent bands in the UK at the moment; Joanna Gruesome, Veronica Falls, Evans the Death, Anna Calvi, Fear of Men... hmmm just noticed all of those are fronted by or are women, maybe it's just the blokes who are rubbish in the UK right now! But I agree, there's a great deal of good US bands right now.

thanks, Q
It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.

My latest mix is now available, it's themed in that they're all bands I saw at Death By Audio:

Thanks, it's always nice to get feedback, if only one person goes out and buys a record or sees a show based on something they've heard on one of these then I'm happy.

Number 100! http://qcomps.blogspot.com/2015/03/q100 ... -2015.html

I put this together as a personal "best-of", or at least an attempt at that... this mix probably describes me as a person better than I could.
