That was the one to carry under your arm wan’t it - the only one to maintain the cool along with the Led Zeps etc? The whole set from 1 - 6 are all pretty good 7-12 are okay. I was never a fan of soul at the time but have got quite a lot of it now.

i also own Hitsville USA: The Motown Singles Collection 1959–1971 on cd. it's a good un.

Has anyone else listened to his stuff? Or his No Man albums with Steven Wilson?

I’ve played a few tracks from his last two albums, but find his singing voice a bit weak. I like the guy, he’s great on The Album Years podcast, and he even liked a Facebook post of mine. I must try again.

Didn't really appreciate the Turtles way back when, just didn't know enough about them but, over the years, have since bought all their albums. An under-appreciated band I would suggest.

Northern Rain.

I think his voice is okay. Admittedly, he is no Lee Jackson but more than adequate.

Suitable for this track anyway. The track reminds me of Rain Tree Crow

I'm Better Now - another melancholic track more of the above - not very exciting - rather bland actually

Darkline - definitely a Japan/Rain Tree Crow influence - as above but the best track so far - but pretty ordinary. Easy listening - no challenge- fairly superficial

We Caught the Light - that's enough - this is even worse.

Not an album I would spend time and money on.

It just isn't my thing. It's just boring....

Sorry, I tried but I find the vocals fine - it's the beast of it that doesn't suit

I like this album C. but the TIMF shades it for me and I particularly like A Lotus On Irish Streams. Not albums I listen to a great deal but glad that I have them.


Just finishing off the Dave Mason album, I'd forgotten how good it is.

I love this album - one of my top 200 and probably in the top 100 if push came to shove.

Incredibly, if that's the right word, Mason has rerecorded the whole album again because he didn't like the vocals and he prefers his voice now...!

He went back to the same spot cover the cover photo too.

I played about three tracks Qobuz and aborted it.
