Canadian multi-instrumentalist I’d not encountered before today, but if Kev Rowland gives his albums 4 and 5 stars that’s good enough for me to take a look....

Floydian / Gilmourian mellow, both in guitar and vocals, but not almost unsettlingly so which I find the likes of RPWL and Airbag can be at times.

Nicely crafted.

I liked Graham Parker for a while way back when. Particularly liked Squeezing Out Sparks and even moreso the Up Escalator which should have made him pretty big but it seemed to fall on largely deaf ears. He appeared to lose his way a little after that.

I don't know how many prog goons watched this but it is really tasty (and robust, and seminal)

I am not sure where I posted it now(!) - so in case you missed it

[Fast forward to 2:00 to avoid John's talk intro]

Pretty awesome, the vocal bit near the end i could live without though.

Wonder why the bass player wears a glove on his fretting hand?

That Indian 'scat' is called 'Konnakol'. It is linked to what the drummer is playing.

In Indian classical music you will see it a lot. Every sound links to a drum time signatures/beats

When I was learning tabla I learnt a bit myself.

Here's a good example and clarifies I think:

5/2, 5/4, 5/8, 5/16 totally 75/16 or 75 aksharas

Still, point taken, not everybody's cup of Darjeeling

Here's a metal guitarist talking about the same thing - this is probably clearer

Celtic tinged folky prog rock with great guitar. Excellent band.

Never been that keen on Harvest, it's okay but far from his best.

Big Country may have produced some great music, but this was Adamsons' finest moment

No, not for me.

A few fair to middling tracks but a lot of absolute tripe. The voice is the main problem.
