Broad church for sure but I certainly detect some jazz and prog elements within....

Bruce Hornsby - Absolute Zero

New release from a guy who had fallen completely off my radar for the last 25 years or so.

It seems he’s been quite prolific. Saw a strong review for this so thought I’d give it a go. Very different from the Way It Is and Mandolin Rain days but not bad at all.

More broad church....

Seeing as most of Bowie’s 80s output was unadulterated crap I found this a refreshing change at the time.

Listening now and it ain’t great but the heavy blues / jam feel is at least interesting.

Funnily enough I've got a soft spot for this album as well and curiously enough as I opened the thread this is what I'm listening to:

Danish prog metal. It’s ok, better in the quiet passages for me but although I have found some terrific music in the sub-genre, generally these bands are not really my thing, especially the modern exponents. (2 plays is enough.)

t - solipsystemology

Another class album from Thomas Thielin. (I found it a bit of a struggle to get into his albums at first but they seem to have crept into my earline in recent years. He’s a talent alright and no mistaking.....)

Played these yesterday (for the 1st time) without listening closely. Sounded alright.

Any thoughts?

Bought Big Generator in a boot fair or similar a while later didn't do much for me. Doesn't help much I know.

[They both were billed as a resurgence in form but they didn't do much for me. Even ABWH sounds better. Must give them a spin sometime soon since I haven't heard both of these for awhile...

NP- a little slice of 70s West Coast pop....
