Well, I saw it through to the end but to be honest I couldn’t wait for it to get there.

Twiddly folk with age old instruments and for some reason tagged as prog. Not the prog I enjoy. I found it pretty much devoid of merit. Presumably it was interesting at the time.

US band Edensong’s 2nd album, Years in The Garden Of Years.

This is pretty good stuff. Folky sound reminiscent of Tull, accentuated by the frequent flute. It certainly has a harder edge to it as well but although I can certainly hear the occasional metallic section, comparisons to Dream Theatre (which I’ve read in reviews) seem a tad misleading to my ears.

The vocals are okay but don’t really do it full justice unfortunately.

Not as good as the first but fairly entertaining.

Seems like an appropriate place to put this given some of the other 'folky' type stuff in here.

He should've stayed with the Small Faces but then ...... we wouldn't have had Faces, tricky one.

Wasted talent, give me Tin Soldier any day.

A far more polite response than I would have given :) Pretentious twaddle.

I thought I might be treading into dangerous territory with my comments of Gryphon - seems I’m not alone!

You may not be alone but that doesn't make you right. I haven't commented previously because I've not heard the Midnight Mushrumps album. To say that Gryphon are devoid of merit is a plainly ridiculous statement. I understand that the "progressive medievilist" approach is not to everyone's taste, but I feel they pull it off with panache.

Their album Red Queen to Gryphon 3 is a classic. It stands comparison to Gentle Giant, Jethro Tull and other bands that have incorporated "ancient" music into their sound. Their 2018 album Reinvention was one of the best from last year.

As for Slightbreeze, any admirer of Prog should think twice before describing anything as "pretentious twaddle" ;)

Small point.... Note that I didn't say it was devoid of merit.

I said I found it devoid of merit.

For me that's a big (if subtle) difference as I do try to be conscious of and respect the views of others at all times, even if others sometimes fail to extend the same respect. :D

(Well, I try to follow that "code" anyway!)

Lord Rother you may want to avoid Amazing Blondel....!

As my old grandmother used to say 'it wouldn't be for us all to be the same - each to his/her own'

Prog Corner is a safe environment free of trolls and bully-boys.

Post and say what you want - there is no need to ever feel the tendency to pussyfoot.

Thanks C. 8-)

Hmm, not sure what the thinking is with this cover, but it's a good album from another good Polish band. The band's leader Jerzy Georgius Antczak has released solo / other project material and he is an excellent guitarist, although that card isn't overplayed on Albion's albums (not the ones I've heard anyway.)

Albion - You''ll Be Mine

Played this a few times recently and it is rather lovely isn’t it?

1975 release from the non-original line up.

A lot to admire about them, but they weren't very exciting
