Great summer night listening.

A delightful album

As featured in the new interactive Black Mirror episode on Netflix.
It was raining when we drove up the two-lane highway through the long tunnel of trees that led into the black district on the south end of St. Martinville.

Prog?

I'm just playing the Heroes Symphony, which isn't really a symphony. Six mood pieces inspired by the Bowie/Eno album. Think I'm onto my fourth play now, while more is revealed each time it is more pleasant/interesting than as gripping as Glass can be. Good to read to.

Very French. Latest release 50 years after formation. Not bad, in fact there’s something good going on but tbh the vocals are not inspiring me to seek out more from their extensive catalogue.

I’ll take a recommendation if there are any fans out there....

All Traps on Earth - A Drop Of Light

Offshoot from renowned Swedish prog band Anglagard, this is a debut album released recently.

I’ve never quite got the huge love for Anglagard in prog circles - it’s just a bit too noodly for me. But that was how I felt about Genesis when I 1st heard them in mid 70s....

This album left exactly the same feeling on 1st play. I really must give it (and Anglagard) more time to bed in with me.

US low psych rock band from the late 70s who were new to me on the psych compilation album I posted up the other day. The track “April 15th” made me want more.

This album has to be the shortest I’ve ever come across, less than 30mins in length! But it is rather good, standing up well to its 50 years life on this planet.

Edited to remove the annoying extra apostrophe added by poxy spellcheck....

Simon & Garfunkel's Bookends is under 30 minutes

Speaking of psyche collections, I thoroughly recommend this one

On 25th January Grapefruit (Cherry Red) will be releasing I’m A Freak 2 Baby: A Further Journey through The British Heavy Psych & Hard Rock Underground Scene 1968-73. An essential purchase!

Is that the one where you hear a piano being destroyed on one track? Good stuff.

Seeing this reminded me that I had it somewhere, had to dig it out but finally found it to play - thanks for the reminder.

Both of these are pretty good as well as the '69 mentioned above.
