I really like it, some unorthodox Beefheart rhythms and beats, use of the marimba, a very good vocalist and some very worthy tracks. More than average boogie I would say but then it’s down to taste again.

I've had a Lumpy Gravy morning today - one of my favourite Zappa albums
Firstly, the original Primordial version from 1967 which is instrumental
Then half of the 1984 remix with overdubs by Chad Wackerman (tubs) and Arthur Barrow (bass) from Lumpy Money
and then side 1 of the 1968 version of Lumpy Gravy
