Played this yesterday. Not as dynamic as Trace but certainly good enough to keep on playlist for a while. Cheers.

Re: PROG CORNER
I have found this band a bit limp but ended up enjoying their previous release quite a lot which was a surprise to me, so was quite looking forward to this new release.
Played it twice this week and how disappointing. VERY limp.

It is not so instant as Trace but is a delightful grower.

Re: PROG CORNER
Trying Beardfish again.
Despite being a hugely valuable member of Big Big Train I do struggle with Rikard Sjoblom’s solo / other band projects.
All the best components of prog music are there, but somehow when he rolls it all together the thing that’s lacking is a proper tune. Every album is the same in that respect. It’s so nearly excellent but the (for me) most important element is missing.
I don’t really do difficult prog (Gentle Giant, Soft Machine, Gong, ELP etc.) but I suspect those who do like the aforementioned would get something out of Beardfish.
This is the title track from the 2009 album. Give it a go.

Re: PROG CORNER
The young USA band that sound quite a bit like Led Zep, especially the singer’s high wail, have just released their 2nd album. Sounds similar to the 1st (after 1 play) and that’s absolutely fine for now. They have a few U.K. dates coming up but seem to be mostly sold out which is a shame as I’d like to see them.
