Mother Turtle - Zea Mice

Greek band with jazz / jam roots. That is very evident in the sound of this album with a dose of space psychedelia chucked in.

Not bad at all, and is actually quite impactful but it’s not really a sub-genre that often grabs me for repeat listens.

Karda Estra - Weird Tales

Had seen good reports of this UK outfit but it really didn’t do anything for me. Avant symphonic is an apt description I saw. Too much disharmony for my ears.

I’ve never fully “got” Roine Stolt. Much of The Flower Kings’ output just seems to drift past me without ever fully engaging my brain.

The Sea Within is his new project with Jonas Reingold, Daniel Gildenlow (Pain of Salvation), Marco Minneman, Casey McPherson (singer of Flying Colours), Tom Brislin and guests such as Jon Anderson and Jordan Rudess. A stellar line up for sure.

I like this a lot on 1st listen.

26th July at the Eel Pie Club in Twickenham.

Are they still worth going to see C?

Maybe Bob.

Three members of the classic line-up are dead Vincent Crane (keys) , John DuCann (guitar) and Paul Hammond (drums) and Rooster without VC is difficult to imagine.

The current band contains Pete French on vocals and Steve Bolton (guitar) that played on 3rd and 4th albums onwards resp.

The thought of Rooster without VC (and DuCann) is almost unimaginable but I reckon it is worth going just to hear Devil's Answer and Tomorrow Night again!

Interesting this.
So Badger were the band Tony Kaye formed after he'd left Yes.
Their debut was this one - recorded live.
The show at which it was recorded was an opening spot for ... Yes.
At The Rainbow in Dec 1972.
This was the show at which the versions of Close to the Edge and Starship Trooper on Yessongs were recorded, and at which the film of the same name was shot.

The producer's credit reads "Geoffrey Haslam, Badger and Jon Anderson"
Well Badger were busy playing and presumably Jon A was getting ready for his own show.
So Geoffrey Haslam presumably did most of the actual producing.
And he did a much better job than Eddie Offord did for the headliners

The record's not much cop, though

Presumably “production” refers to mixing in the studio after the recording,
