Our Leif has made another cracker , crack of dawn to requiem is a fine treat. Getting a repeat play before my nightime listen to my current Swans obsession , the seer.

UK band's 2nd release. Bit patchy (possibly by trying to be too many things) but some good moments that made it a worthwhile listen a couple of times last week.

Really enjoyed all 3 of these albums today.

Brand new release from Netherlands band Knight Area.

Image

Nth Ascension's album from late last year.

Image

And Innerspace's debut album from 2012. Super guitar in this.

Which is the best of the three - can you post a track from that best album please?

As I think I commented last year, Innerspace's album is so much in Pink Floyd style it's almost embarrassing - however having returned to it this week the tunes are really strong and I thoroughly enjoyed the revisit.

And this one from Nth Ascension...

(The vocals on the album do take a bit of getting used to but I quite like the slightly oddly strained quivering mess it might sound on first play.... actually, now I come to think of it, I think this track might be vocal-less, so you should be ok!)

Discipline - To Shatter All Accord

A true modern prog classic.

Do these "modern prog" bands tour and such? Do they have followings?

Spanish band making largely instrumental rock which is definitely not post rock by numbers. Played this a few times over the last month or so and it's very good.

There's plenty of them popping up on festivals like RosFest in the USA. Guess that scene isn't as dead as punk is nowadays.
BTW- seconding the praise on Leif's new album...guy's in the groove for sure.

NP:

Genesis- Lamb Lies Dow On Broadway- after reading Goat Boy's thread went back to listening to their music. Classic stuff.
