Bob did have a near-death experience before Time Out Of Mind, and I think it changed him.

Since then, he's done three surprisingly strong albums, the Theme Time Radio Hour and the Chronicles book (hopefully, he'll write more volumes, because Volume 1 is quite ace!). Can you imagine the reticent Dylan of old doing those radio shows or the book? Not a chance.

Personally, I hope he's around for a long time.

Really? He looks progressively worse every time I see him.

Of course, I hope you're right.

He does look a state sometimes. But I think he's got that working-class constitution that some have, they booze for years and live to 90, not a day in hospital, no rehab or any of that nonsense.

No I think he is going to live an embarrassingly long life. He'll still be around at 103 going "we were a good little band, the Beatles".

I used to want Ringo to be the last living Beatle. I used to think Ringo deserved to be the last living Beatle but all that silly fan mail nonsense soured me on the idea. McCartney has my permission to be the last living Beatle. I can put this in writing if that'll help. that video of him on David Letterman was pretty impressive.

I think The Reaper is scared of him.

Would have said Snooks Eaglin but sadly he died this year. Am not looking forward to the demise of B.B. King, the artist I've probably seen more than any other and over the greatest time span too.

Same here. I knew it was coming but it still has me very sad. It's funny because he was such a shady and unlikable character but his death has affected me. Not a good year for people I grew up with and admired (Willy, Ron Asheton and Lux Interior).

As for the question at hand, I cannot imagine a world without Mick or Keith.

Actually not Iggy, Neil Young.
As much as I love Iggy he hasn't made a great new record in over 30 years.
Neil turns up at least one or two every decade.

So we can expect another great album from him when he turns 80?

Cool!

it could happen!

not great but I like how Ig finally changed gears with his last one.
I also like how he seems to be in love with his baritone these days.

Interesting, none of my choices have anything to do with the likelihood of them releasing anything good ever again. I'm pretty much resigned to that not happening with most of my favorites. Mine are just about personal attachment more than anything.

good point! I said Joni Mitchell because I was listening to the car radio and I thought I heard the man say "Joni Mitchell died" I had tears gushing out of me before I realized he was talking about the "Stoney Mitchell Diet" or something - I just heard him wrong. I wasn't thinking about things she hadn't done - I was thinking of how much she put into what she has done.

bitch didn't stay dead!
