In other words an extended look into *******’s head, and it seems to have some pretty good things in it (who among us is totally free of mental garbage?) It’s nice to see that he is confident enough so he can play some blues again,I’d like to hear more.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

"Ocean Spray" is a cranberry drink that is often given to cancer patients - allegedly because it has healing qualities.
James Dean-Bradfield's mum drank Ocean Spray whilst slowly slipping away from cancer in hospital.
This was the first lyric JDB wrote for the Manics and, based on this, he probably should have written more.
It's such a beautiful tune - the opening lines roughly translate to " Your eyes are beautiful, you have such beautiful eyes".

The way the guitars crash over the end of the chorus is magnificent and the trumpet solo (played by the drummer, surprisingly) is just gorgeous.

I seriously love this song - it has so much depth of feeling, desperation and is so poignant.

"Oh-oh, please stay awake and then we can drink some ocean spray".
