well, i was gonna talk about spirit in general and a few albums including sardonicus in particular... but i'm not sure spirit has ever really gotten its due.

therefore, i won't even bring them up.

Balboa would agree.

Warning: If you'd like to discuss this with him, don't do it after a few beers and after a trip to Matt Wilson's car.

Not if you've got other things to do for a couple hours, anyway.

I recently got Exile in Guyville from Emusic. I d/loaded it based on excerpts of various tracks I'd heard and have really become quite taken with it. Excellent album.

The Pretenders debut. Actually, the Pretenders in general. Held in very high regard in the early '80s. Not completely forgotten, but not often thought of now.

Haven't read all the thread, but presumably someone has mentioned Bothers In Arms, Love Over Gold and Making Movies, all by Dire Straits. Making Movies is a genuine classic album with no duff songs on it (though some would say one duff song), was a huge hit in its time, and yet no-one talks about it or plays tracks from it on the radio anymore.
I kept thinking "swim as far as you can, swim as far as you can".

I have now read all the thread - I note LMG did mention Brothers In Arms.

But what really struck me was how many of the albums mentioned do not fit the thread (ignoring the obviously ironic ones). I'm with Lance Matthew on this one.
I kept thinking "swim as far as you can, swim as far as you can".

i talked about romeo and juliet the other day. well, a live version.

however, what i talk about and what the rest of humanity talks about rarely line up. in fact, knowing me, i bet this song is probably what ya mean by "duff".

that doesn't make you any less right about the album.

No - I think R&J is a tremendous track. The one some people think is duff on that fantastic album is Solid Rock, though I think it is great.

I have skateaway on my ipod - what a brilliant song that is.

'Solid Rock'? Surely the duff track on Making Movies is 'Les Boys'? I cringe just typing it.

I used to have an old dilaidated copy of Rolling Stone's 10th Anniversary edition. This was on every top 10 list:

It still rates up in that vicinity for me.

It's about the most boring music I think I've ever heard. This isn't a strange point of view, I don't think.
