eno doing a mccartney?

Postby goldstoned » 09 Jan 2009, 23:46

beloved artist going uninteresting with age: eno's doing it.
the schwalm-cooperation was not exactly ambient 1, his another day on earth was not nearly another green world. then there is the coldplay-thing.
love the man, but not a name to blindly buy the album for anymore.

I've felt that way about him for a while. 'another day on earth' = "the fireman" otherwise his name stopped making my nose light up several "shutov assembly"s ago.

What about last year's collaboration with David Byrne?

I think it smells of Byrne's creative juices more than eno's. I know Olivetti felt different but I don't really think of it as an Eno project at all.

Another Day was great, Equatorial Stars, the latest collab with Byrne was pretty darn good too (Eno's more the instrument to Byrne's songwriting which works fine for me)....Coldplay apparently is a bad band to like these days but didn't mind his production on that one...

Nope, still essential to check out.

I bought that '77 Million Paintings' thing which came out recently. Saw it at The Baltic and it was immense. Doesn't work in the same way when you watch it on your computer screen though.

LOL- Conny's got it right. I was just too lazy to type out the full Byrne/Eno-title....
