You won't get many here saying this one sucks, Davey.

They're an annoying group much of the time with their po-faced sloganeering pop, but there are some great songs on this album.

Categorically does not suck and I'm not even a fan but Kevin Carter? Australia?

Sucks arse big time.

It is the Manics, so it sucks.

A horrible overblown bloated turd of a record.

Nasty.

It's a horrible, horrible album. Yeuch.

In it goes.
Of course, I was mostly stoned at the time.

It's a decent record. Not "cool" or particularly "tasteful", and people predictably get distracted by the mostly tiresome image, but most of the songs on there are good. No real sucking going on.

It's their second-best album, and their most confident outing. In fact, I don't think there are any weak songs on it. Everyone knows the anthemic singles, but the real highlights are songs like 'Interiors' and 'Small Black Flowers That Grow In The Sky', which show a sensitivity that later, stodgier albums failed to capture.

Definite 'no'.

Far from great, but it was OK for a time in a sing along way. There's a lot of much worse stuff out there so a "doesn't suck" vote from me.

I'm amazed at the love for this one. It really does sound like the most tedious, boring, naff-rock record of the 90s to me.
Of course, I was mostly stoned at the time.

What, like the most?

Well maybe! I don't know - it just seemed such a middle of the road, trad rock type thing, with those awful vocals. And that godawful 'Design for Life' - it makes my skin crawl.

I can see it's well liked - it always appears in lists of the best albums of all time or somesuch. Not for me I guess.
Of course, I was mostly stoned at the time.

I know what you're saying. There's not exactly a whole lot of spark there. It's sort of workmanlike, not a great deal of originality. You wouldn't want to meet these people. They're not fun, and they bellow.

Bloody brilliant album.
'A design for life' is the zeigeist of the 90's.
If you think this album sucks you need to take a good long hard look at yourself.

Can I get some clarification: do we need to have heard it to have an opinion?
