The Hardest Working Man in Show Business?

Postby Thesiger » 09 Jan 2009, 13:42

Now that James Brown is no longer with us, who deserves to inherit his mantle as The Hardest Working Man in Show Business? Bob Dylan, with his never-ending tour; Bruce Springsteen with his marathon sets; or some younger pretender perhaps?

I did wonder about listing him. His output is prodigious, though his quality control might be more rigorous. What about Jack White?

Conor Oberst? In the time it's taken me to write this, he's probably recorded a new album...

Childish does not tour much though.

I vote for Warren Hayes - Alman Bros, Gov't Mule and grateful dead.

So the nominations are apparently Jackie Leven, Paul, Weller and Billy Childish.

He cancelled a big show here last summer, so he's a lazy bastard in my book.

I don't think the title is transferrable.

Elvis died and he's still the King. Many people wear black but Johnny Cash is still The Man In Black.
There's plenty of cunts out there but Footy....

Most people here don't like him, but Henry Rollins is always doing something. Rollins Band, a radio show, TV show, talking gigs, books. Doesn't sit still the guy.
He tries.

Prince is the new Ryan Adams? Bring on the bootlegs...

I was going to nominate Willie Nelson, but I'm not sure playing Whiskey River 200 nights a year is really all that hard.
