Album Cover of the year (2008)

Postby Spec » 02 Jan 2009, 14:33

What was your favourite album cover of 2008? For me it was probably Peter Broderick's Float

The album sounds like its cover.

I liked this one - the idea of the videogame-obsessed slob is such an ingrained image of cliched masculinity, so transferring that onto an attractive young woman creates an interesting frisson:

I think it's your imagination - she's tucked a water-pistol inside a somewhat skimpy pair of panties. At least, that's what I think she's doing...however, I suspect that the artist wasn't entirely unaware of the somewhat phallic appearance of this arrangement.

Judging people by your own standards again, Min? It looks like a toy gun stuck into her pants to me, but perhaps I'm guilty of the same thing...

Brian, if you want to stick a toy gun in your pants, that is just fine with me. I am the last person to judge.

Possibly The Child Readers - Music Heard Far Off

Image
Like fast-moving clouds casting shadows against a hillside, the melody-loop shuddered with a sense of the sublime, the awful unknowable majesty of the world.
