Progressive Canon #169 - NSU

All hail Nayor, Smethurst and Utting, the foremost asthmatic Prog combo.
Here they are, enjoying a puff with their long-time lyricist (and fellow sufferer), Reg "Necromancer" Beckett:

For me they're not the real deal. Smethurst was the true talent in the band and I don't see how they can call themselves NSU without him. I'm going to see Smethurst's latest project SNU play the same night at the Corby Leisure Park. I can't pretend I'm not tremendously excited.

No, he's lost weight. They used to use him as a stage prop.

N.S.U. Turn On Or Turn Me Down (1969)

original vinyl rare

Great Scottish psych heaviness, some serious guitar wreckage inspired by Cream

It's kinda depressing for a music forum to be proud of not knowing musicians.

Beelzebub in Birmingham was a step too far, don't you think?

Well there's some serious guitar wreckage courtesy of Little Mo Morbsley, but I think they'd already peaked by the time of Lucifer in Leighton Buzzard.

Pushing the progressive envelope (mind you, in NSU's case it was more like inventing a whole new post-encapsulating method) is a hazardous business John, somewhat equivalent to downhill skiing with a shark strapped to your back. Brave, brave men.
It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Frustrated with the lack of credit he received in KC and the Sunshine band as man truly behind the bass lines, guitarist Cors Dobler, switched back to guitar and regrouped NSU for a rousing and successful tour of Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Indonesia. Recording the still unreleased concept album Sorghum Sortee along the way with Tawainese popstar Chen Li, and providing back up band support for the wedding of Heavy M industries chairman Hoo Koo Park Woo.

Fashioning fine velveteen hose from Carlsson's scrotal sack.

What talent! I say, what talent!
