That's a shock. His keyboard sound was one of the major components of the Pink Floyd sound.

RIP Rick.

That's a shock. Thanks for the work on Piper, Rick! Fantastic stuff.

Rest In Peace Rick

And his vocal contributions throughout the years.

Oh well, good job they did Live 8. Thanks for all the fine musicianship, Rick.

What a bummer - 65 is no age.

RIP Rick.

Complete shock. I know he wasn't in the best of health these past few years, but it seems he was more ill than he let know.

His sound absolutely defined the Floyd, more even than Gilmour's guitars.

RIP Rick..

Jeez, that is a real downer. Lovely keyboard sounds, and I wish he'd done more vocals. :(

Another chapter ends.

A major loss. His vocals on Meddle and DSOTM are lovely, and such a crucial component of the Syd era Floyd.

R.I.P.

Enjoy The Great Gig In The Sky, Richard.

That's no age really is it. May he rest in peace.

Does that mean they won't play live or make anymore albums then ? ... you know, every cloud, silver linings etc.

Yeah, ok ... that was probably a bit below the belt, even for me.

I laughed. One of my first thoughts upon receiving the news was "What will JF have to say about this?"

By all accounts, RW was a sweetheart.

Sad news. Rest In Peace Rick.

One thing I will say is that the families and organization surrounding Pink Floyd do a good job of maintaining their privacy.

Superstardom ruined the band for me, but I still enjoy a lot of their early work and the two shows I saw in 1971 and 1972 were stupendous. Great memories.

I was lucky enough to see Rick's last tour in 2006. "Echoes" was absolutely spellbinding.

He did the lead vocal on "Paintbox" didn't he?

One of my top 5 Pink Floyd tracks of all time.

Rest in peace, Rick.

You'll be missed.

I really like his work on the Live in Pompeii DVD. It's strange when these obituaries come out of the blue for the casual fan.
