Yes, I'd heard of this. The live album looks enticing. With the reissue of the early Harvest albums, I think that any bonus tracks might be few and far between. After Ayers decamped the Harvest label to join Island, Harvest gathered up nearly every unissued track in the vaults and issued them as the 'Odd Ditties' album.

But the price you quote is too good to miss. Thanks!

My first Kevin Ayers album and the one I got him to sign the time he played here.

*gets nostalgic*

Trying to find info for the first three disks is difficult to say the least, but I did find the cover artwork via EMI Norways flickr site!

Just as a matter of interest, has anybody ever used this site? I ordered the Ayers box the other day and have heard nothing, no confirmation of order or dispatch or any of the usual stuff you get. Plus, the ordering process just felt a bit too easy compared with normal, they hardly wanted any details before showing you straight on to the Paypal page. I know I am probably just being paranoid, but I am starting to get a funny feeling about this one and some reassurance would be timely!

I ordered an album from them a few years ago and it did turn up although they only email you when they despatch the album and they only despatch when the album is in stock so if it isn't released yet then that will be why you haven't heard anything. Hope this helps. They are really cheap though.

I love you and want to have your babies...

Seriously though, I'm just starting to get into Mr. Ayers work. I have one album and a Best of and so spent an hour or so last night perusing various sites, including ebay, looking for something to buy. This is a real piece of spooky but welcome coincidence. :D

This 'wonderfully' dense piece of writing accompanies Mojo's review of the box set:

Ayers remains an enduring cult, doomed to caricature as the urbane hippy wastrel with the charcoal baritone pipes who might have been a premier cru rock star had manana culture and an epicurean's love of the grape not diluted a talent which...

Have to admit I really feel like dipping my toe in this box. The only tune I know of Ayers is the version of 'May I?' from the Old Grey Whistle Test DVD and I really like that. Not totally convinced by that website thats mentioned. Would like to hear a few more users before trying it. Play.com are selling for 22.99 and amazon dont have it listed as yet. Maybe I should go for the single disk best of for starters??? Although that doesnt feature May I??? Hmmmm!!! Not sure. Maybe this box is one for the Christmas list, not a limited edition, is it??

I ordered it today for £13.99 through CD Wow (as mentioned in the earlier posts). Why pay more?

If it helps, I have used CD Wow a number of times over the last 4 or 5 years without any problems.

For those in the UK, Sainsbury online cd/dvd purchases are handled by CD Wow.

On the one or 2 occasions where Royal Mail manage to lose items in transit, I have gone back to them and a replacement sent immediately.

I have used CD Wow on a few occasions. If you don't mind a little wait it's normally fine.

Some customer reviews here.

Is Music-Wow the same as CD-Wow then? The sites certainly look different.

Well, I'll keep you updated, but they're not too impressive so far. They do respond to enquiries (quite snottily actually), but they don't seem to have in stock the stuff they are advertising.

I have done a bit of searching on the web, and the general consensus seems to be that they are for real, but, they aren't the best at sending stuff quickly. Given that the release date for this set is 8 September, it'll be a while before I can put that to the test. For some reason, the wow-music site has a date in June as the release date (?). Anyway, apparently they had a presence on ebay up until recently, and they had 90+% feedback.

This is released tomorrow. They took the money, I wonder if it'll turn up this week. Here's hoping.
