On the subject of Savoy Brown, I'm doing some research into the history of the Nag's Head - a pub in Battersea in London (sadly demolished 40 years ago) where apparently both Savoy Brown and Free played their first ever gigs in the late 1960s. I suppose it's asking a bit much to enquire whether anyone on this forum can confirm that - or might even have been there....?

I am from the other side of the water and miles away from Battersea - East Ham.

In 1969, I was frequenting the Dagenham Roundhouse and John Peel's Show in London at the Paris Studios.

I saw both the aforementioned bands but elsewhere.

It is very likely that Savoy Brown played their first gig at The Nag's Head as the band was formed in Battersea.

Checking Wikipedia:

[Free] played their first gig on 19 April 1968 at the Nag's Head pub, at the junction of York Road and Plough Road in Battersea, London. They were all teenagers – bass player Fraser was 15 years old, lead guitarist Kossoff was 17, and lead singer Rodgers and drummer Kirke were 18
