China Crisis had one good song

Postby GoogaMooga » 04 Nov 2023, 08:59

China Crisis had one good song, the rest of their output is as limp as a wet haddock. The song in question is "Seven Sports for All", from the 1985 Virgin LP, the one with the strange title that nobody remembers.

"When the desert comes, people will be sad; just as Cannery Row was sad when all the pilchards were caught and canned and eaten." - John Steinbeck

If you don't rate Wishful Thinking above that then there's no hope for you

It is alright but it has no defining characteristic at all
Take the vocal track off and it could be literally any one of a hundred 80s chart poppers.
It sounds remarkably like Girls Just Wanna Have Fun from the intro

I also assumed it was going to be "Wishful thinking".

That's awful.

'Wishful Thinking' is lovely.

I always had a soft spot for this - and it features one of my favourite guitar solos

Doesn't work. At least not from an iPhone. You just get a blank screen in place of a video, with an error message

Quality band and superb live, seen them about 5 times over last decade, ace. Plenty of great songs.

Every single song listed so far is better than the one Googa posted :)

I saw them round about the time African & White was first released. There were about 5 people there.

I do think that is the best thing they did.
