Honourable mentions to Simlarillion, Zeus Pendragon and Strawberry Hill Boys - but they didn't release any albums under original names so don't qualify.

I was going to mention that.

Their first single (forgot the title) was great and I still feel they should have stuck to this name.

I didn't mention them in my original 'chain of the band' as it was only Astbury that was in Southern Death Cult and he formed Death Cult after SDC broke up. 3/4 of Death Cult became The Cult so I thought that more a legitimate name shortening link in accordance with C's strict rules :D

Jim Thirlwell stopped being all the various variations ("Foetus Under Glass" being the name on the 1981 debut single) and settled for just being Foetus in the 1990s. I think the last long-form variation was "Foetus in Excelsis Corruptus Deluxe" in 1992.

"Thee, Stranded Horse" became just "Stranded Horse" after one album. But no-one else knows them, probably.

C, your altered OP/thread title has rendered the rest of the thread incomprehensible to anyone joining late! Or just made the rest of us look like idiots.

Well played!

Sorry Chas - not my intention.

I did it to save space.

I've done it a few times - eg the Grateful Dead thread.

Anyway, Chas-lad, I can't help it if you are an idiot...!
