I did not warm to this album at first because it was recommended to me by critics who say 'If you love Kind Of Blue, you'll enjoy The Blues And The Abstract Truth'.

In fact, the two are very distinct animals.

Trying to do very different things.

I now love them both, but do not think they are similar in any way.

Agreed. Other than the two being true classic recordings and featuring Mr. P.C. and Bill Evans I don’t hear a similarity.

Yes.

And Monk, Chet Baker, Donald Byrd, etc.

Best known as bassist for Miles's classic first quintet, which recorded those wonderful albums Cookin, Relaxin, et al and Round About Midnight.

And drummer Roy Haynes was Coltrane's go-to drummer when Elvin Jones was not available for whatever reason.
