I somehow never knew, 'til just now, that in his previous incarnation as a bassist he was a founding member of both The Jazz Couriers (with Ronnie Scott, Tubby Hayes and Bill Eyden) and Alexis Korner's Blues Incorporated!

I always loved the first Tonto-album...it seemed like a blueprint for what bands like Yellow Magic Orchestra took to new extremes nearly a decade later.
I did read up on Cecil after I discovered his role on Minnie Riperton's Perfect Angel and his work with Stevie Wonder which was certainly groundbreaking, especially Talking Book. Consequently, I am now trawling through his blues period and checking out Blues Incorporated...
