It's now being reported that his breathalyzer showed his blood alcohol content was 0.02; the legal limit in New Jersey is 0.08. Not sure what this is about.

But in the meantime, Jeep has pulled his ad. So there's a silver lining.

I haven’t read anything about this but that’s pretty strange. I imagine you’d be legal in most European countries with that BAC. Maybe he was obviously fucked up on something else—pills maybe. If his car had reeked of pot they would’ve busted him for that too, so who knows. Or it could be trumped up bullshit.

I think it’s weird that someone with his resources wouldn’t have someone to drive for him, but then again, driving is fun.

I think the actual story is Bruce was out on his bike, he stopped , some fans were there and walked over... they were talking, the fans offered him a drink from a canister they had with them (for a selfie) and the police just happened to be driving by and arrested him for drinking whilst in possession of the keys for a motorbike. (And that's all paraphrased from reports on a Bruce site I frequent).

After pleading guilty to the consuming alcohol in a closed area charge, Springsteen, who has no prior criminal history, was handed down a $500 fine. When asked how long he needed to pay the fine, Springsteen told the judge, “I think I can pay that immediately, your Honor.”

Springsteen’s lawyer Mitchell Ansell told Rolling Stone in a statement after the hearing: “Mr. Springsteen is pleased with the outcome of today’s court appearance. The prosecutor was unable to provide the necessary evidence and facts as it related to the charge of Driving under the Influence (DUI) and Reckless Driving and therefore dismissed both of those charges. Mr. Springsteen, who has no previous criminal record of any kind, voluntarily plead guilty to a violation of consuming an alcoholic beverage in a closed area, agreeing to a fine of $500. We want to thank the Court and will have no further comment at this time.”
